Here are the results:

kilobits/sec

Divide the result above by 1024 to determine your megabit rate

Here is the raw data used to calculate your download speed:

  • download start time:
  • download end time:
  • download time:
  • download size in thousands of bytes:
  • estimated line speed (kbits/second):
  • estimated line speed (kbytes/second):
Line speeds are generally measured in kilobits per seconds (kb/s). This can be misleading as many people assume that a kilobit is equal to 1000 bits. However, because of the binary nature of computers which calculate in powers of 2, one kilobit is actually equal to 1024 bits. Therefore,

1 kilobit = 1,024 bits
1 megabit = 1,048,576 bits OR 1024 kilobits

1 kilobyte = 1,024 bytes
1 megabyte = 1,048,576 bytes

Since 1 byte = 8 bits, 1 megabyte = 8,388,608 bits
