Cheyenne Radiology &
MRI is pleased in maintaining the next generation
of imaging specialties to Cheyenne and the surrounding communities:
We originally introduced teleradiology to the Cheyenne
area in the mid 1990’s. This system allowed the
local hospitals and several clinical sites to send patient
images electronically to the radiologists for interpretation during “off”
hours such as evenings, weekends and holidays, ensuring
that patient image evaluations were not only available at all times but
expedited as well. We then brought PACS to
Cheyenne and the surrounding communities for the first time
in our ever increasing commitment to quality patient care.
PACS
offers us the opportunity to not only be able to receive
patient images from local and regional hospitals and
clinics, but to do it much better and faster than has ever
been available before now.
-
We have
implemented high speed data connections utilizing state of
the art wireless technologies along with proven land wired
T1 connections that allow the transmission of data
hundreds of times faster than previous 56K modem
connections.
-
We’re
proud to announce that we are using the Fuji Synapse
system for our PACS. This system fully integrates with the
most current, familiar and popular Microsoft platforms
including MS Windows and Internet Explorer, ensuring that
its ease of use is fully maximized as opposed to other
PACS systems using more difficult and older cryptic
technologies.
-
We’ve expanded and
upgraded our computer technologies at Cheyenne Radiology
& MRI ensuring that data is
safe, secure and readily available to authorized users on
command from anywhere in the world.
-
Unlike
previous technologies, PACS will facilitate the
transmission of patient images in the latest and approved
DICOM formats. This means that images are seen in the same
original quality as they are at the original viewing
stations, just as though the physician was right at the
imaging center!
-
Images
can be viewed from multiple locations simultaneously which
will allow radiologists and other physicians
the ability to consult
with each other dynamically concerning patient care. It's no
longer
necessary for physicians to have to wait until older
“filmed” examinations are delivered to them or that they
go to an imaging center. Any computer with Internet access
may be utilized to access patient data, providing that the
physician has authorized access.
Cheyenne Radiology
& MRI is also very pleased to have installed and utilize southeast
Wyoming's first "computed radiography" system,
also from Fuji Medical Systems. Instead of
using x-ray film and film cassettes that patients are
accustomed
to seeing, we use specialized imaging "plates" that capture the images
electronically. We then feed these plates into a special
workstation that decodes the data into very highly detailed
images that can be viewed on high resolution monitors and
stored digitally. The computer can adjust the contrast
and density to optimal levels, reducing the need for
repeated examinations because they may be "too dark" or "too
light". More importantly, the radiologist and referring
physicians can manually adjust imaging levels and magnify
the images as well to seek out details which may not have been
normally visible on plain films. The end result is even less
patient exposure with more improved quality.
We
are continually developing these technologies at Cheyenne
Radiology & MRI, so we invite you to visit us frequently to follow our progress as well as new and
interesting news concerning the Fuji Synapse PACS
system and the Fuji Smart CR system. Our use of these systems has been met with overwhelming
enthusiasm and support from local and regional physicians,
clinics and hospitals.
